IT’S SIMPLE:
Whether your spa pool is:
- Newly purchased.
- You have an existing spa pool.
- Or you have been using chemicals or other water treatments.
The decontamination process is the same!
Before proceeding, ensure that your spa pool has an adjustable filter cycle timer that can operate the filter circulation pump, for 4 -8 hours daily. If not, contact your electrician who can simply fit one to your spa pool. For spa pools with a 24 hour, 7day filter pump, please leave in this mode.
- Ensure your filters are clean by using a recommended filter cleansing solution (water alone will not be sufficient).
- Submerge the simplesilver™ block into the spa pool where it is convenient. If you have been using conventional chemicals in your new or existing spa pool, there is no need to drain or change the water at this stage. If your spa pool has an ozone system, leave it operational.
- Set your filter pump timer to operate daily, for as long as possible, or for a minimum of 8 hours per day, for the first 7 days, with the water temperature set between 35-40ºC.
- Do not use the spa pool over this 7 day decontamination period.
- Clean the filters every second day with a recommended cleansing solution to assist in removing contamination.
- After day 7, drain the spa pool, irrespective of the water condition (cloudy or clear). Clean the inside of the spa pool, the filters with a recommended cleansing solution and rinse the simplesilver™ block in warm water. Then refill the spa pool with fresh water.
- Submerge the simplesilver™ block back into the spa pool where convenient.
- As there are many spa pools with different size pumps, water flow rates and operating parameters, we suggest the following:
• For spa pools with a continuous 24 hour, 7 day filter circulation pump, please leave in this mode.
• If your spa pool has a filter circulation pump that operates at various times throughout the day, then set the filter cycle timer to operate for as long as possible in a 24 hour period. Once the water remains crystal clear and odourless whilst bathing, the time setting for filtering can be gradually decreased until the optimum set point is achieved. However ensure that the filter pump operates for a combined minimum period of 4 hours per day.
- Congratulations, you can now use your spa pool and enjoy the benefits of a hassle free environment for the next 12 months.
- After you exit the spa pool, we recommend that you run the jet massage or filter pump so that water movement over the simplesilver™ block is achieved. This ensures quick decontamination of the spa pool after use. For convenience, use the pump that has the 20 minute automatic off timer.
- Your spa pool water will need no further maintenance, apart from normal weekly filter cleaning.
- In approximately 12 months, your simplesilver™ block will need replacing. At this stage, you will notice that the water will become cloudy and deterioration of water quality will occur. Do not use the spa pool. Purchase a new block of simplesilver™.
